My 1 Year Anniversary of Full Time Day Trading. 3 Years In The Business. What I Wish I Could Tell Myself Years Ago.

This industry has a lack of transparency so I'm more than happy to say I will provide lots of that throughout this post with screenshots. There are LOTS of imgur links to back what I say so it's not just words on a post expecting you to just believe what I'm typing.
This post I suppose is "Part 2" my post back in April, "After 2 years of Daytrading. 7 months full time. Here's my advice". I'm doing this to update everyone who came/comes across this in the future. Yes, it is possible. No, it won't be easy. You will pay homage to the rite of passage into this career. I'll also provide some examples of styles of trading so for the newer aspiring traders, there will be some things I rarely see discussed on forums. So here's to 1 year of Full Time Day Trading

TL;DR - You'll become desensitized to trading. Stubborn to other strategies (There are biggebaddemore lucrative strategies. Don't chase them. Why fix what's not broken? I know what works for me and I'm content with it. No strategy is better than another. It's a personal choice. ). Losing individual trades won't faze you, they're inevitable. Profiting certainly feels better. After a while, you won't be as enthralled to trade every morning, it'll become just another part of your day). Trading is just managing your money through a statistic and the medium to execute it is trading on your platform. Think: "If. Then. Because". Your trading plan should be that black and white. Ask "Why" for everything you do and use. If you can't answer it with documented results, drop it.

I get a bunch of messages all the time from people asking - . Out of those who follow me and chat me seeking further tips through my previous posts. I'll be answering the FAQ's and addressing things I see frequently in this sub as far as trading axioms
Disclaimer: I won't sugarcoat anything. I'll share my experiences and add pieces of advice I'd give to those who are currently experiencing the same thing becoming a full time day trader and what day to day life is like, the occasional distress, (DRAWDOWNS). Some of you follow my Twitter for the past few months where I post my daily watchlists with a snippet that reveals my DayTradingBuyingPower. I do this not to brag but to demonstrate that the account does yield growth, I pay myself, and there are days where the balance does not move because there was no edge. I also do this since nobody else shows their account performance. (Yes. You, Mr. YouTube gurus and wannabe gurus).
We do this for income, the numbers on our accounts are real. Treat it as such. Get your initial capital out of your account THEN try to "Scale your account" with your profits AKA The Market's Money.

I'll go over:
•FAQ's that I get in my inbox (I'm still welcome to further questions if I don't answer here)
•Decision Fatigue (You will experience this)
•The previous year (2019-2020) of ups and downs
•How to use my watchlists that I post on Twitter in the morning to your advantage
•The pivotal moment that changed my trading career (NFLX 10-17-19)
•The road to becoming a full time trader. (It won't be fun unless you're handed the money)
•You'll have a better grasp of my strategy (Between ProTip 4 and 5. ProTip 8.)

There are 10 "ProTips" throughout the post that I wish I could tell myself years back and I'll periodically throw them in here as the post goes on. I make posts long in order to segregate those serious about this business and those who will just become another statistic in the failure rate of this business.

At the end of this post, I'll go over the frequent questions I receive such as: (Answers to FAQ at bottom of post.)
  1. "How do you prepare for a trading day?"
  2. "What would you go back to tell yourself?"
  3. "Books?" (The most abused question, but I get it. I could start a public library with just trading books I bought over the years)
  4. "What is your background?"
  5. "What is a normal day for you?"
  6. "How did you discover your strategy?"
  7. "What did you do/How did you get started?"
  8. "What is your % return?" (Not a fun question since a trading account is not an index or investment account. Intraday traders do not measure performance in %. Most are measured in "R".)
  9. "Is enough to start trading?"
  10. "Why do you need so many monitors"? (This one is rarely asked but I do see it discussed on platforms and people trading on mobile phones love giving flack to anybody who trades on multiple monitors. Hint: Everyone's different. Whatever works for the individual. There are no rules in trading. The only rule is that it works.)

My story:

Background:
I heard about daytrading during the 2008 crash while in high school. We all want to make more while working less. I entertained day trading from time to time but always realized I never had enough money. Horrible mindset because I could have still researched WHILE saving money to put into my trading business.
2015 - I opened my first trading account with Scottrade while in the Marines. Apparently if you have a net worth of over $1,000,000 you can get out early (Biggest rumor ever).
I frivolously bought crap penny stocks. In short - I was a hair away from gambling. What made it NOT gambling was the fact that at least I owned something tangible (Securities of a company) and anything can happen. Buy low sell high was my strategy. Didn't work obviously. No idea what I was doing. I'd buy and hold hoping to wake up to the stock price being way higher and it never happened.

ProTip #1 : If you hold a trade overnight... It is not daytrading. Stop turning into an investor because you can't admit a minor defeat.

2017 - I started taking this business seriously while working in the oilfield as a Logistics Planner (If you're wondering what company since I am asked this from time to time, Google: "World's largest oilfield services company").
No kids, girlfriend/wife or financial obligations. I worked 10AM - 7PM CST and would trade the open from home for roughly 1 hour. Later I was offered to be a Data Analyst... Only downside was... I couldn't trade since I had to be at work now at 8AM CST during the market open. In the moment of signing the offer letter, I was bummed thinking, "No more trading,"
That wasn't the case though. You can still build your trading business with a 9-5 and while never making one trade. The data is there.

ProTip #2 : We all see the same data. It's there forever. Many strategies show their edge both live and in hindsight the same. (Especially if you trade patterns). You CAN build your business as a trader without even taking a trade. You CAN build your strategy while working a 9-5. Just because you're not trading, does not mean you can't build your business through research. You won't know how you'll react to the losses but at least you can diagnose the raw data with a large enough sample size for assurance and confidence.

If you have a 9-5 and want to go fulltime into this business. Stay for a bit, save, live so far beneath your means that it is almost miserable, (depending on your expenses, area you live, family etc) and get a few hundred sample sizes of your strategy! And for your PTO/days off... trade the open. I sacrificed my vacation days to trade.
After 2 years in corporate America, eating cheap food, never going out, saving relentlessly, I made the decision to just do it and resigned. I went straight into the ring of fire known as trading. That was on: September 23rd, 2019
"" (Sound familiar?)

When you hear these types of comments.. your response should be: "Nobody put the time I put into this. The 90%+ who fail, don't have it all written out, computerized backtests, manual backtests, statistics, SOP manuals, JUST like the job I have which is a business, I'm just another cog in their wheel. I'll just be wearing all the hats in my trading business. Instead of Oil&Gas, it's just for trading". One thing I see here a lot is people saying to trade X amount of months/years or make X.

ProTip #3 - Think in man hours, not calendar. Example:
Trader A puts in 1 hour of study/work/research everyday for 1 year. (365 Hours)
Trader B puts in 12 hours of work every day for 4 months. (~1,450 Hours)
Trader A lives in a major city while Trader B lives in the middle of nowhere. (Think cost of living)
2 totally different living expenses and 2 different calibers of dedication. I'd put my money on Trader B because he put in more man hours. (~1,000 more hours on the clock to be more exact).

ProTip #4 - Have a cushion in your account AND your personal bank account. Having a strategy is great but you won't know entirely if you can fulfill and execute your plan until you experience the ups and downs both short and long term. A strategy is constant over long periods of time... there will be days, weeks, and perhaps a month here and there where you aren't making much money. We hear all the time, "Trade like a casino". Casinos don't make money day after day but the odds are in there favor over the long haul.

Month 1 of full time trading was great:
Immediately after going full time, the first month (September 2019 to October 2019), I did super well. Business as usual. No stress. Everything going as planned. No turbulence. At least not like I had ever experienced...

The 2 prerequisites I had before resigning was:
  1. Show consistency in returns. Consistent Sharpe Ratio.
  2. Make a 4 figure trade (I achieved this while short 100 shares on ROKU September 20th, 2019 and even made a victory post if you scroll down my profile's posts.)

First life-changing trading lesson learned as a full time trader:
That money printing spree ended on NFLX October 17th, 2019. Less than 1 month of being a full time trader. Deviating and going against my plan I actually made $500 in a matter of 4 minutes. If you follow my watchlists on Twitter, I always trade with the direction of the gap. If I notate, "Long Watches" that means I will only trade it IF (and only IF) I see a long biased pattern. Likewise I will only be looking to short my "Short Watches". Plenty of times I'll call out a ticker and it immediately goes the other way. No harm no foul because there was no long biased pattern to confirm my thesis.
On 10-17-2019, I went against my plan and it worked.. NFLX gapped up to resistance and I went short when it tanked off of a short pattern.(This is known as fading). The market gave me a free lunch and then some. So now I'm walking on air in my mind:
"I'm an absolute unit"
"I'll do it again and clear another $500 to make it a 4 figure day before 9:30AM Central"
"Should have quit my job way earlier being this good."
Within 30 minutes of the open. I gave all $500 back. Yes I wanted to trade it back. Never have I had the desire to smash anything but I do understand those who do! Yes I stood there and felt like each passing second was wasted opportunity. The next 24 hours were long!

ProTip #5: It's circumstances like that that help you in the long run. FunFact: I never once deviated from my plan since. Not ever again.

"I could have paid for my groceries and electric for the month after 4 minutes of trading if I just took the free pass the market gave me" I felt dumb but in hindsight, I'm glad at what happened. It was this exact instance that married me to my strategy/business plan. The next day and the 7 trading days following. I didn't make 1 profiting trade. My longest ever drawdown - 11 straight trades. While researching I found out this was Decision Fatigue (I'll go over this shortly below)

Put yourself in that situation...
You have bills and your income is strictly trading. I don't care how much a robot you think you are or how strongly you believe in probabilities, when you were in an office less than a month ago making almost 6 figures sitting in an air conditioned office knowing direct deposit is on its way every other Friday no matter how well or poorly you performed at work.. Now you're in the hot seat. Its a bottomless feeling. Now all of your friends and families words are ringing in your head.
But just like a boxing match.. you gotta take a hit to get a hit. Win some, lose some, shake hands and get back to normal life. Water under the bridge.
Mind you:
•No guaranteed direct deposit every 2 weeks.
•No more medical/dental insurance.
•401K retirement is no longer being matched.

11 trades is nothing. You only require ~5.5 trades at 2:1RRR to make it back OR 3.5 trades at 3:1RRR. It's nothing especially in your research because you can easily just scroll a little more and see, "Oh that's just a drawdown. No big deal". How will you react in real time? Will you buckle or choke? But the thing is, I was skipping trades out of fear and JUST so happened to be picking all of the unsuccessful ones. (Decision Fatigue)
Think about those 2 weeks of being in a drawdown. Half of the month. You're not just stagnant, your account is bleeding slowly but surely. Next time you're looking at your spreadsheet/backtest/predictive model/research.. try to put yourself in those days of drawdown. It's not just 11 boxes of red with "-1R" or "Loss" in them. The screenshot above on Imgur is just a recent example.
Think about your daily routine, going to the gym, hanging with friends, grocery shopping, cooking, going to bed, waking up, doing a routine, then losing again.. and again.. and again. Try to think of life during those 300+ hours (Weekends too) of, "I haven't made money. I've lost money. And I still have bills. After paying them, I'll be closer to my set Risk of Ruin".
Here's a lesson you won't learn before going fulltime but I'll do my best to emphasize it here:
Pick a strategy. And stick with it. It can literally be anything. Don't spread yourself thin watching 20+ tickers and be a jack of all patterns/tickers. Be a master of 1 pattern and master of 1 circumstance. There's this real thing called "Decision Fatigue" which explains exactly why what happened.. happened. The article explains that the 2 outcomes of this mental strain known as "Decision Fatigue" is:
  1. Risky Decision-Making
  2. Decision Avoidance
Sound familiar? Does it kind of make sense now? As a new trader you have YouTube, Facebook, StockTwits, Twitter, "gurus", books recommended on Amazon, all throwing their ideas/strategies around, the market has opportunities littered all over.. Decision Fatigue is inevitable for the unprepared. Decision Fatigue happens in every profession. If you mess up at your 9-5, its just a blunder, your paycheck will remain the same. Just a slap on the wrist and move on. With trading, you make a mistake.. it's less food on your table, lights don't stay on, and/or water isn't running. That pressure adds up. No wonder so many fail...
The signs of Decision Fatigue:
•Procrastination.
•Impulsivity.
•Avoidance.
•Indecision.
When you find what clicks with you AND its either statistically or performance proven, have the courage to risk a healthy sum of your capital into it. There are strategies/patterns/styles of trading littered all over the internet:
Very broad example:
"IF circumstance happens THEN "Execution". Stoploss is XYZ. Target is XYZ. BECAUSE over a series of Y trades, I will make $X,XXX.xx".

ProTip #6 : Strategies are all over the internet. It's your account/money, backtest it. People share their strategies here all the time and although I don't agree with them because I know what works for me, it's something to chew off of for you newer traders. YouTube is a harbor with people who give just enough info to figure their style out. You will lose trades. Sit for some screen-time and pay homage to the edge that you discover. All in due time.

Insert key metrics and find correlations. This is how you create checks and balances to create/formulate a black and white trading plan. When I first started doing this, my spreadsheet(s) had so many columns it was annoying and would kill my desire to continue working. You'll find things that are imperative and some that are unimportant. For a lack of more colorful terms: "Throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" Trim the fat. Rinse and repeat.

Here's some things I used to remind myself of and perhaps it'll ring some bells for you:

Surrender your capital to your edge. If you truly accept the risk and trust your proven edge, losses don't feel like anything nor do profits. Although we're not here to put on losing trades and yes it does feel nice to profit. I still from time to time will excited when I hit target after a series of multiple profiting trades depending on my mood.
If you're nervous or your heart starts beating quicker when you hear the sound effect of a trade getting entered/filled. Be honest with yourself and ask yourself if you're truly accepting the risk.
Things you can't take to the bank:
  1. RRR.
  2. Win-Rate
  3. Number of trades.
  4. "This one great trade that I hit target in less than 30 seconds and I got filled better than expected"
All of these are integral metrics. But you're trading to make money. It's up or down, green or red, profit or loss, TRUE or FALSE. So with that said, find what works flawlessly and is easy to follow. Checks and Balances. Then allocate a good sum of risk into it. I read it here all the time, "Don't risk too much" and that's great and true for new traders. But don't sell yourself short. Push yourself over the edge and admit that you know your stuff. Think of Trader A and Trader B. If you've put the time in.. don't sell yourself short. You've built enough courage to learn a business so many fail at. This business has such a negative connotation. But remember that not everybody can handle meritocracies and that's exactly what the market is. Don't try to be the best, just work harder than everyone else and the output of your input will be relative.

ProTip #7: YouTube trading ads from gurus... they're subconsciously making you think you're a novice trader. It's in their marketing. They study marketing psychology. The EASIEST things to sell:
  1. Health
  2. Wealth
  3. Happiness
People that are desperate for those things are the most vulnerable and these "Traders" marketers are fantastic at portraying all 3 of those things at once.

ProTip #8 (Broken record alert) : Write a business plan. Your strategy shouldn't take longer than 4 sentences to explain to another trader. When you have a plan that's proven through a statistic and WAIT for it to happen, you feel 100X better taking the trade. You don't even care too much when it results in a loss. Because that was your plan, you accept it much better, and you know it was just an expense for a winning trade.

Want my strategy? "I scan for stocks with a market cap of over 250M, 10k shares premarket, gapping to support or resistance, priced over $10, and I look for a pattern biased to the direction of the overnight gap. It isn't rocket science. Check my Twitter, look at the dates I posted, and you'll notice the gist. Yes this is an edge but not the entire edge. How fast can you sift through 15 time frames? How long does it take you to fill out your order ticket? Your Fibonacci time extensions with 5 EMA's and Bollinger Bands aren't helping you. They're lagging. If they work for you, great. In my experience, they hindered my visibility.

Pro Tip #9: Yes statistics are highly applicable to trading. Patterns do work. All patterns do is tell you WHEN to enteexit, and how many shares. Humans will never think differently of money. Be the frontrunner of the market's emotions. Nobody remembers the indecisive leader. Risk taking is a commonality amongst leaders. Trading requires courage and it's O.K. to show a bit of confidence as long as you also have the humility to admit when you're in a bad trade. (Notice how I didn't put, "wrong". You're only "wrong" when you deviate from a proven strategy.)

ProTip #10: Risk management is 24/7. I've never heard anyone mention this but think about it a little bit. Having financial obligations can become stressful regardless of how you earn your income but its far more stressful while running a business. Not just any business, but a business where you can go to work on your A-game, do every single last thing right, trade without emotion etc... and still walk away with less money than what you came to work with. Meanwhile somebody who JUST started trading made a 4 figure profit not knowing what the heck the difference between ETB, HTB, or NTB. Think of it like this, a JV high school baseball player can hit a homerun off of an MLB pitcher once.. but how will he fare at the end of the season? Traders don't predict stock prices, traders predict the outcome over hundreds of trades. People chat me asking what TO do rather than what NOT to do. You don't learn labor intensive jobs or how to fly a plane by what to do.. you learn what NOT to do to stay alive.

That's all I have. Once you have a trading plan underway and you're executing it, you don't have much time when your hobbies are cheap but I still do respond to chats/messages. I do get asked from a previous post when I'll build a website and to answer that: I'm learning how to build a site on rainy days. Can't put a definitive date on it. I will say that its coming, if you don't give up on this business in the next year or so, you'll see it. What I plan on putting on there:
  1. RiskReward Calculators
  2. Position size Calculators
  3. EV Calculator
  4. Dictionary with examples
I just don't want some generic WordPress site. I want my website to be stellar and a great resource for aspiring traders. Something I didn't have learning this business. I want it to be something I'd consider a staple in a trader's resources. Perhaps one day it will be referenced on this sub frequently.
FAQ:
  1. "How do you prepare for a trading day?" I get behind the computer about 20 minutes before the bell. Reason being: "If you study long. You'll study wrong". If the chart isn't grabbing my attention and gets me excited, then I flick to the next ticker. I don't even know the companies I trade half the time nor do I care about a news report some journalist wrote. Also there is no magic news outlet that lets you know about "Major events that affect stock prices". If there was, I wouldn't be here because we're all subscribed to the same edge nor would I be trading my style.
  2. "What would you go back to tell yourself?" Get more data. Save a little more, your hairline and sleep schedule will thank you. Take only perfect trades and don't feel forced to trade. There will be days you don't touch an order ticket. And days where you are busy and have tunnel vision. Next thing you know its time to shut it down for the day.
  3. "Books?" - I try to humble myself when answering this but off the cuff, they're all mediocre. Andrew Aziz's was ok, definitely get it, it's only a few bucks on Kindle. Just don't expect it to give you strategies BUT it will give you ideas. If you're brand new, it is good as it will teach you the common vernacular of a day trader. Mark Douglas was interesting but his YouTube seminar recordings are much better. No book, Facebook group, YouTube channel is going to be the end all be all perfect strategy. Expect losses. Don't be a one hitter quitter after suffering a few tiny losses/paper cuts. Stick to it. Most books will help you familiarize yourself with the common vocabulary amongst traders and will hint ideas. It's your job to formulate the strategy and template for research.
  4. "What is your background?" I was a logistics planner for a major oilfield services company. Later I then became a data/buyer analyst so yes, data analytics/research was a 2nd language for me entering trading. I did have that upper hand and did shave off months if not years for me.
  5. "What is a normal day for you?" I'm always done trading after 10:30AM Central. I will hold onto a trade until right before the bell if it hasn't hit either target or StopLoss by the time I leave the house but it is absolutely closed in entirety by 2:55PM Central. After I trade, I enjoy the day. No I'm not riding around in my Lambos posting IG/Snapchat (I have neither) stories of my profits with my private jet waiting on a runway trying to sell an $7 eBook or a $100 membership (HINT HINT). I grill/cook, read, workout, ride my motorcycle, attack my other sources of income (small businesses I'm building), hit the driving range, shoot guns, etc. I live in Texas. Life is cheap and fun here.
  6. "How did you discover your strategy?" I bought TradeIdeas premium, went through all of their computerized backtesting patterns, tested them. Then did what I mentioned earlier... Tried to find correlations in metrics. It distilled the trades to a strict criteria and here I am. I post on average 4-5 tickers on my watchlist. 7 max. I do not like spreading my attention thin across multiple tickers. I do not recommend buying TradeIdeas, it does have lots of bugs.
  7. "What did you do/How did you get started?" Was a data analyst, was good at research and applied it to trading. My incentive was, "I could have made more money trading rather than sitting in 2+ hours of roundtrip traffic and 9 hours in an office. The data is there. Everybody sees the same charts all over the world. There are ways to make this possible"
  8. "What is your % return?" (Not a fun question since a trading account is not an index or investment account. Intraday traders do not measure performance in %) I trade to make money AND pay myself, so my equity curve will look like a small loss or small gain after I pay myself. % return? I measure my account's performance in Sharpe Ratio and Risk Units. My Sharpe Ratio is ~1.85. While I yield roughly .8 - 1 R per trading day. Some weeks I make 10R. Some weeks I lose 2R. Yeah one week I might make $2,500. But the next week I might lose $300. The following week my strategy will yield $0 and the last week I might make $1,000. Some weeks suck. Some weeks are great. But overall. Just shy of 1R per trading day. Some days I'm super busy taking trade after trade. Some days I'll shut it down after 5 minutes without even filling out an order ticket. Some days I won't even see the open because there is no edge for me.. Keywords... "For me".
  9. "Is enough to start trading?" Depends on where you live. Are you restricted to PDT? If not then how much are you obligated to expenses? I live in Texas. Things are cheap here. If you live in NYC or The Bay Area your expenses will be astronomical compared to mine. A $30,000 account is totally doable for a single Texan with low monthly expenses. Now if you're in California or New York? I'm sure you'll fall below 25k if you have 1 bad month. Also depends on if you have other sources of income or a full/part time job. I encourage every trader and aspiring trader to have multiple sources of income, don't rely solely on trading. Not just for the sake of mitigating pressure but also for sanity. If you have a family to provide for, I don't know what that's like, you never know when Little Johnny is going to randomly pick up Trombone lessons for a school program/play while little Suzie needs transmission work in her car because a simple solenoid went out. $1,700 later.
  10. "Why do you need so many monitors?" I use 3 for trading. The 4th is for music. The other 2 are useless while trading. That's for trading though. When I made the decision to go full time, I knew I was about to go off the chain with research. And sifting between spreadsheets, a platform to see multiple timeframes for a pattern to backtest. My attention span is short, I'll lose my train of thought before I open the other tab to input data. But the main reason was for research. It's such a time saver and is a headache repellant when doing research while everything is laid out in front of you. Now that I have a system. I'll most likely be treating myself to 2 ultrawides for Christmas.
As always, thank you to everybody who takes time out to message me and letting me know some people read these and show appreciation. I would say, "Good luck" but there is no luck in trading. Just statistics. Remember that!
In conclusion: Yes. Full time trading is possible, depending where you live/monthly expenses and obligations. You're more likely to become a profitable trader than a professional athlete. There is a level of uncertainty each day, perhaps each week, doubtful each month, and definitely not each year. If I ever want a raise, I just consult my business plan and financials, then decide if I can handle it mentally. If you have medical issues, get a part time job for the benefits. If you're healthy, just be careful.

All the best!

OVERVIEW AND THOUGHTS OF THE GAME AND HOUSEGUESTS (Obvious spoilers!)
Opening: 16 brand-new houseguests enter the house of temptation for our 23rd season! This season is not like others, there are an extreme amount of twists ready to shake up this game! The banishment and opening eviction are the first.
Camp Director Twist: Evicted: Justine | In this brand-new twist, Douglas, Dr. Moreno, and Michael plead to be the camp director. By a close vote, this power goes to Michael! He chooses to banish Michael H., Justine, Mac, and Sonja. Michael H, then Mac, then Sonja reenter the house. Justine is the first evictee of the season. This is so sad! She may get the chance to come back in! ;)
Week 1: Evicted: Mac | After the opening eviction, Michael H. is the new HOH after being banished! He targets Brett and Mac in his nominations, but Brett pulls out the first veto! This forces Michael to put someone up, and he nominates Gigi. The house votes out Mac, but Justine returns and the camp comeback twist is in play! Michael K. has been dominating with power, and now has the nightmare power. He's definitely a big threat.
Week 2: Evicted: Douglas | Wow! This was a great and intriguing week. Leo becomes the new HOH! He nominates the 2 players in the medical field, Dr. Moreno and Douglas. Dr. Moreno's veto pick Gigi wins, and he is saved! This causes Leo to make a big move by backdooring Brett. This is where the strategy comes into play. Brett makes a 6-person alliance and secures 4 out of their 5 votes to stay. He also gets Bertha's vote, which sends Douglas out and keeps Brett in for a blindside. This was a huge move and this could really change the season! I'm super sad Douglas left so soon though.
Week 3: Evicted: Bertha | Michael is the new HOH, and puts up Alexa and Sonja. When players are picked, Brett activates his power. However, the same 3 houseguests are picked again! This is so funny and the odds of it happening are so low. This is definitely a memorable moment! Sonja saves herself by winning the veto! Michael K puts up Bertha, leaving the final 2 duo on the block. The house almost unanimously decides that Bertha should be evicted. After being eliminated on day 1, Justine returns to the game like nothing happened! I can't wait to see how she plays.
Week 4: Evicted: Leo | Alexa wins the HOH! Her HOH was not the best, as she had to nominate 5 people. She first tries to put up Sonja and Michael K, but Michael activates his power, forcing her to then nominate Gigi and Leo. Gigi picks Sonja to play, and Sonja wins the POV. Alexa puts up Brett. In a tie, she evicts Leo. This was not the best move, because the alliance now has the potential to take the full majority. Good move on Michael's part, he's been a big threat in this pre-jury phase.
Week 5: Evicted: Michael K | Sonja is able to clutch all of the power for the week! This allows her to be able to take a big threat, Michael, out. She puts Alexa up as a pawn and is able to lock the nominations and unanimously send him home. Michael K really had a big impact on the first part of the game. This leaves room for some people to step up and do the same.
Week 6: Evicted: Justine | Sonia wins the HOH, and misses on a move. She nominates the duo of Gigi and Dr. Moreno, and Gigi saves herself. This allows Sonia to potentially nominate someone big, but she nominates Justine and she goes home obviously. This season has such great potential and the fact that an alliance is running it right now annoys me. And now Justine, someone who wasn't a big threat at all, is the first in the jury.
Week 7: Evicted: Michael H. | Another outsider heads to the jury this week, as Brett becomes the new HOH. In the field trip twist, Karl stays safe while Gigi goes on the block. There was no way she would've gone home anyway, and Sonja ends up saving her. This leaves Michael to be the next evicted player. I hope there can be a power shift next week to switch up the season.
Week 8: Evicted: Sonia | Gigi takes all the power for the week, and gets Sonia evicted. This was a predictable week, as Sonia is probably the biggest threat out of the outsiders left. Gigi and Sonja are doing great with comps, but I'd like to see some new things happen. Hopefully, Jessa can win herself a comp since her power wasn't used.
Week 9: Evicted: Jessa | She was one of my favorites going into the season, so I'm really bummed she didn't pull through as an underdog. Brett wins HOH in another predictable scenario. Jessa wins the prankster and puts up her other outsider, Alexa. This is a terrible move. She could've at least tried to put someone in the alliance up. Brett, Gigi, and Sonja are steamrolling through the game right now.
Week 10: Evicted: Brett | Karl wins his first comp with the HOH, and goes after Brett instead of trying to get Alexa out. Sonja wins yet another veto and locks the nominations. The vote ties and Karl gets Brett out. This is definitely a big move for his game and sets himself up nicely for the double eviction.
Week 10 Double Eviction: Evicted: Dr. Moreno | Dr. Moreno is next out the door after Gigi wins the HOH. I was expecting another person in the alliance to go, but the fact that Gigi got Moreno out after being so close to him the whole game was crazy! Sonja wins the veto (again) and Dr. Moreno is blindsided in a 2-1 vote. Sonja has now won 7 vetoes, which is the record for this series! She's not one of my favorites on the cast, but these comp wins are crazy and I have to give her credit! Sonja and Gigi have won every POV this season except for one.
Week 11: Evicted: Mara | This really surprised me! I thought Mara and Karl were a tight duo. I think he really wanted Sonja to leave, but she won her 8th POV and got to the final 4. I'm sad that Mara is out because of her backstory, but all of the final 4 have worked hard to be there. Competitions will probably decide who gets to the end and wins.
Week 12: Evicted: Alexa | Sonja wins her 10th competition, and keeps her closest ally safe. Gigi then wins the veto, and make a fake alliance with Alexa before evicting her. I feel like that was unnecessary, but that's just who Gigi is. I like Karl the most out of this final 3, but Sonja really deserves to win. Alexa was a really cool personality to have on this season and I'm surprised she made it so far.
Final 3: Evicted: Karl | This is no surprise. I knew this final HOH was going to Sonja, and Karl having a fight with her just sealed his fate even more. Sonja also forms a random alliance with Karl before evicting him, which is really not necessary. They just love to manipulate. Sonjia 100% deserves to win this season. She has the most competitions wins out of any houseguest in BBHOT history, even though the game is not all about comps.
Finale:
Runner-Up: Sonja | I swear this happens every time someone should win over the other. The jury was very bitter and she only received 3 votes. Sonja won almost every veto this season along with Gigi, and I really think she should have won. Gigi did make more moves, though. Her comp win record will take a lot to be beaten! I wasn't expecting that to happen this season!
Winner: Gigi | Gigi was one of my least favorite on the cast. Seeing everyone's backstories compared to her's made me not like her as much and that she didn't deserve to win. She did play this game well, and she really used her manipulation skills to the best. Her and Sonja were one of the strongest duos to play and even though it may have been boring, watching them dominate the season was very cool as well.
Fan Favorite: Mara | Yay! She didn't have a big impact on the game, but her backstory was very wholesome and she really deserves this!
Possible for an all-star or returnee season: Sonja, Karl, Mara, Brett, Jessa, Justine, Alexa
Notable Stats!
Most Wins: Sonja, 11 wins (#1 record)
Most Times Nominated: Alexa, 6 nominations
Most Votes Against: Brett, 13 votes
Times Veto Was Used: 7 times
Final Thoughts: I really loved this cast! I was super excited to see them all play and was hoping someone deserving would win the money. The move that Brett made to save himself during Week 2 was amazing, but that alliance kind of ruined the season. I wanted to see power shifts and big moves, but it was repetitive. There were still some great moments though, like Brett using his power and getting the same 3 players, and Sonja breaking the comps record. It wasn't a bad season, but it could've gone better! I hope to see some of these players back under better scenarios.

A Big list of Adventure Ideas - Heroes'/Antagonist's Goals, High Concept Premises, and a list of ways to generate dozens of unique adventure ideas based on the same goal.

Hi! I have compiled a list of ideas you can use to brainstorm your adventures.

Heroes'/Antagonist's Goals

Stories are fundamentally about problem solving. The problems usually come from the mix of two sources:
  1. The Heroes strive to achieve a goal, and struggle to overcome challenges and obstacles on their path (often created by the Villain).
  2. Villain wants something, and players are trying to disrupt their evil plan.
Whatever goal the Heroes have - the Villain will have the opposite one (and vice versa). You can start from the either side. Give the goal to the Players ("Obtain a valuable item"), and the Villain will want the opposite ("Obtain the item first"). Give the goal to the Villain ("Perform an Evil Ritual") and the players will want the opposite ("Stop the Evil Ritual"). The only difference is the motivation, Heroes want things for noble reasons, Villains want them for evil ones. If you'll be using the goal for the villain - just put an evil spin on it.
List of goals you can use for either Heroes or Villains:
Players and antagonist compete for the same item (be the first to the pirate treasure.) Players are trying to prevent antagonist from getting an item (Prevent a villain from getting a powerful dark artifact.) Get the pirate treasure, the lost crystal of Atlantis, your stolen belongings. Obtain a treasure map, secret codes, powerful spell, find Villain's only weakness.
Win the race around the world. Win a mock-war between adventuring parties. Win a Quidditch game.
Evil Vizier wants to replace the king and players need to prevent that. Evil King is in charge and players need to overthrow him. The King has died and both sides want to be the next King.
Heroes: Kill the villain, a vampire/werewolf/basilisk, all the baddies in the area. Stop a serial killer. Villain: Kill the heroes, kill people to drink their blood or to satisfy violent urges.
Heroes: Kill a monster. Villain: Kill an innocent creature.
Destroy a doomsday device, the ring of power, a piece of blackmail.
An enemy base, a castle, a ship, close a portal.
Save the person being targeted for an assassination. Save the family being harassed by criminals.
Save the endangered creature from the hunter.
Someone is planning to steal the priceless diamonds during the party, stop them.
Heroes: Capture an enemy general to gain strategic information. Antagonist: Abduct a person for ransom or sacrificial ritual.
Heroes: Rescue hostages, save the kidnapped princess. Recover a soldier behind enemy lines during a war. Break someone out of jail, or liberate a prisoner en route to prison.
Rob a train/zeppelin/caravan with the treasure. Intercept a valuable message passed to the enemy.
Overtake a city, a castle, ship. Plan for an attack on the evil citadel. Compete for control of the territory. You have conquered a kingdom, defeat the remaining groups running guerrilla warfare against you.
Prepare the city to repel the enemies/monsters. Your town/building/ship has been captured and overtaken by enemies, survive under siege, and liberate it.
Deliver a prisoner to jail. Escort a bratty princess to the boarding school. Escort a caravan with the treasure.
Transport valuable treasure. Deliver a valuable intel to the central command before the enemy strikes. Deliver the ring of power to Mount Doom.
Capture the criminal/runaway. Bounty-hunters. Find a missing person. Find out what happened to the lost expedition. Find the only wizard who knows how to lift a curse.
Capture a zombie to prove they exist. Capture a unique creature for research.
Escape the pursuit of the law. Help a wrongly convicted to escape. Escape an ambush. Hide a person from danger. A massive assassins guild is trying to kill you, stay alive until dawn. Break out of prison.
Broker peace between warring nations, families, factions of nobles, King and Queen, fighting giants.
Start a war, pit people/factions against each other.
Solve a murder or a theft. Uncover a mysterious plot and understand who is behind it. Supernatural mystery. Understand what is causing the strange/weird events. Understand what happened in the abandoned/deserted city. Find out someone's dark secret, expose a corrupt official, find evidence to convict someone.
Find a spy/mole, prevent a convert mission from taking place.
A covert crime, a ninja mission, a terrorist act. Enter and leave a heavily-guarded building without getting noticed.
A business competitor, a nation.
Go undercover in the criminal gang. Blend in with the nobles to poison the King.
Enforce the law, collect debts, force a person to do something they don't want.
Prove your or someone else's innocence. Convince the angry mob that the woman they're planning to execute is not a witch.
Complete a ritual/experiment, build a weapon, open portal, resurrect/summon/awaken something.
Prevent a ritual from taking place, prevent weapon from being built, prevent a terrorist act.
Compete for the lady's heart, compete to convince the King to take a different course of action. Bribe/manipulate/intimidate a corrupt official into doing what you want. Try to close a business deal or prevent it from being closed. Play cupid. Make two quarreling people fall in love with each other. Find a lonely person/creature a girlfriend.
Brainwash and manipulate groups of people into doing your bidding, liberate brainwashed people. Free the town from the mind control spell. Convince enemy soldiers to defect to your side. Free a person from the influence of a sinister cult.
Run a kingdom, village, sports team, team of agents, organization, business. Raise morale, lower the crime, stop witch hunts, deal with corruption.
Think of the place itself as the “villain”, it is a monster without HP that "wants" to hurt players or drain their resources, and has certain powers to accomplish that. Traps, cave-ins, lava eruptions, rock-slides, avalanche, collapsing buildings, impenetrable mist, wild animals, dangerous/poisonous flora, falling into a pit, getting lost, etc. Climb a mountain, get through a swamp, quick sand, thin ice, wild magic area. Open an ancient gate. Retrieve an item from the bottom of the lake.
Get stranded in the desert, an island, an alien land, becalmed or in a storm. Help other people survive a natural disaster (storm, earthquake, flood, meteor), a war zone.
Potion ingredients for a witch, parts of an engine that were scattered during crash landing.
Lead an army against enemy general, against rival mob boss or a cowboy gang.
Rats in the basement, wolves in the forest, Zombies, Aliens. Could be impossible to kill them one by one, and must be done with a ritual, destroying the mothership, smashing the necromancer's amulet, lifting an ancient curse, placating the restless spirits, activating the ancient defense mechanisms.

Creating multiple unique adventures from the same goal

Here's the list of ways to create dozens of unique adventure ideas based on the same goal:
Players try to get away with a crime instead of investigating it.
Smuggle/Plant an item instead of stealing it. Close the portal instead of opening it. Banish the creature instead of summoning it.
Destroy an item instead of killing a person. Abduct a person instead of stealing the treasure. Protect a secret instead of the location. Chase a lost pet instead of the criminal.
Don't get murdered - prevent a murder. Steal an item - create a distraction while someone else steals it. Get away with the crime - help someone else to get away with the crime.
Make it stealthy (commit a heist instead of robbery). Avoid violence (capture a person alive instead of killing them). Achieve the goal by social means (ruin the person's reputation instead of killing them). Do it before the rivals do it first. See the list of complications for more ideas.
Deliver an item while on the run from the law. Sabotage a ritual to rescue a person. Infiltrate a group to steal an item. Solve a mystery to be able to find a lost person.
Get through the dangerous location instead of an elaborate security system. Obtain information about the villain's weakness instead of the only weapon that can kill them. Convince a witness to talk instead of following the trail of footsteps. The object is difficult to deliver because it's being hunted by bandits, or because the terrain is dangerous and inhospitable, or because it's large and fragile, or because it's a criminal trying to escape, or because it's cattle you need to keep alive, or because it's a bratty princess who doesn't want to go to school. See the List of Challenges and List of Villain's Moves for more ideas.
Steal the Elixir of Youth from the unicorn instead of stealing the Aztec gold from the Spanish Galleon. Steal an item from a dream instead of casino. Escort a dragon instead of a prisoner. Escape from Jurassic Park instead of the prison. Fight a self righteous paladin instead of the bandit gang leader.
Kill a person out of revenge instead of for money. Resurrect your loved one instead of summoning a demon. Compete for the heart of the lady instead of the treasure.

High Concept Premises

"High Concept" ideas are creative premises, interesting "What if?" scenarios. They will put your players into fantastical and unusual situations. You can use them as a starting point for your adventure - pick a High Concept idea, and see which interesting problems/goals it can generate, or just combine it with one of the goals from the list above.
  • Being shrunk to a tiny size, maybe put into a person's/creature's body. (Honey I shrunk the Kids, Ant Man, Anatomy Park).
  • Switching bodies (Freaky Friday).

  • Traditionally evil guys are good and vice versa (Shrek, Descendants, Megamind, Suicide Squad).
  • Memory wiping, altering, transplanting (Morty's Mind-Blowers, Memento.)
  • Possession / Mind Control (RoboCop, Captain America: Civil War.)

  • Don't go below the speed limit - if you stop moving a person dies or a bomb explodes (Speed, Crank, The X-Files "Drive" episode).
  • A plague/disease/epidemic with unusual effects (fear of open spaces, rage, horniness, loss of one of the senses, wild magic / people to lose magic). It can be transmitted by magic, when infected casters target other casters with a spell.

  • Raising undead to return a loved one back to life.
  • You become God to race of tiny creatures.
  • Change age - turn into kids or old people.
  • Covert stealthy alien invasion.
  • A person turned into an animal.
  • A threat you forget about once you stop looking at it.
  • Infohazards.
  • Common animals are being turned savage (and giant) by a rogue magical effect (maybe an evil druid), and the party has to contain the destruction that they cause while trying to find a solution.
  • Magic is fading / going wild and unpredictable.
  • Superman goes genocidal. Defeat a being of incredible power, without it finding out that you're after it.
  • An ancient civilization is long gone, only a single robot/golem/computeweapon is still functioning.
  • Heroes are isolated in a confined environment with a monster.(Alien)
  • A location is occupied by enemies/monsters/terrorists, heroes are the only ones who escaped from being taken hostage. (Die Hard in a village, on a ship, on a zeppelin, on a train, in a magic school, in a King's castle).
  • A powerful monster begins killing people in the area (Tremors: Jaws in a desert).
  • Set in a world where the evil overlord has won.
  • The evil adventuring party.
  • Deadly game show / competition.
  • A location (small town, building, ship) is suddenly trapped underneath an impenetrable dome.
  • Someone from our world is stuck in fantasy.
  • A dangerous child (has faulty psychic powers, prophesied to be a devil, youngling of a dangerous monster)
  • Two huge powers (monsters, giants, powerful mages, armies) fight each other, causing a lot of collateral damage.
  • A large number of cursed or dangerous magical items have been sold or distributed to an unsuspecting populace (Friday the 13th series, Warehouse 13)
  • First Contact with a sentient race (Arrival, Alien Nation, Contact, District 9, Star Trek, V series)
  • Magic is fading / going wild and unpredictable.
  • Space ship crashing in middle ages.
  • Magic items (or maybe just some magic items) become secretly sentient and drive around their owners while they are asleep.
  • An ancient evil is very slowly rising out of the ground and waking up. People need to hurry to figure out how to make it go away or else assemble a team strong enough to kill it when it awakes.
  • The entire population of a town seemingly disappeared but in fact dug underground secret caves and is reverting to animal tendencies.
  • The party comes across a mysterious artifact, it melds with/into the first party member to touch it, granting them incredible powers but also changes their consciousness.
  • A long lost civilization is rising back up from the sea.
  • The local ruler may have been replaced by a doppelganger, but nobody wants to risk their neck to find out for sure.
  • Act as an experimental subject for a crazy scientist/wizard.
  • Creatures from video games, stories, paintings, come to life.
  • Spell/artifact/curse that prevents the whole town from being able to lie.
  • Space ship / UFO crashing in middle ages.
  • Duplication powers, making clones.
  • Ancient/Lost Civilization. Atlantis.
  • Gigantic Monster (Godzilla, Cloverfield, King Kong, Kaiju).
  • Superheroes/Supervillains.
  • Ghosts, haunted house/village. Restless spirits that need to be placated.
  • Zombies.
  • Vampires.
  • Ninjas.
  • Secret society/cult.
  • Underground civilization.
  • Underwater adventure. Merefolk.
  • Adventure set in a world where the forces of good won a little too well. Where the people in charge are all Lawful Good and have no tolerance for anything else. Tyranny of the traditionally good creatures like celestials, paladins, etc. The slightest misstep can cause a person to be 'disappeared'.
Use the Adventure Writing Template to help you develop these goals into a complete adventure.
See the List of Challenges, List of Complications, and List of Villain's Moves for more ideas on what challenges/obstacles the players will need to overcome on their path to the goal.
See the list of fun Fantasy Settings I have collected.
For interesting ideas for a Villain:
  • Take the personality from a TV/Movie character that you like, but make them evil. Adapt them to fantasy (Evil Steampunk Iron Man). Combine the traits from several characters (Legolas with the personality of Spider Man, John Snow with the personality of Jack Sparrow), or reverse their gender or a key personality trait (female Dr. Octavius, cheerful Batman).
  • For their appearance - find an illustration on ArtStation, Pinterest, or /ImaginaryCharacters. If the appearance is very different from the movie character you have based their personality on - even better.
I have created the "Adventure Prompts Tool" that will pick the random Goals, High Concepts, Complications, Settings, and Challenges for you.

Sunset Spins Casino Review

Sunset Spins is the latest casino from Nektan and you can certainly see their fingerprints all over this beautifully designed site. The overall impression is one of a retro 80s California dream. The background features the silhouette of palm trees against a sunset sky with hues of purple, red and yellow. The logo mirrors this colour scheme, sitting proudly in the top left of the screen, while just below this a rolling banner shows the main promotions currently on offer.
If you’ve ever visited more than a few Nektan casinos the layout is one you should be familiar with. The website template is the same one they use for many of their other sites. Nektan obviously work by the old adage that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The bulk of the screen is filled with slots titles, with 32 smaller tiles and 2 large ones at the top. If this sounds overcrowded then don’t worry. Somehow they manage to squeeze a lot in on Sunset Spins and still give you room to breathe. It’s no mean feat but it’s a welcome one.

About Sunset Spins Casino

The Sunset Spins Casino is ran by Nektan Limited Casinos, a prolific group of casino operators and game developers who run Monster, Fortune Frenzy, Betreels and Reel Vegas. Perhaps the best known site they operate is The Sun Play, the casino site of the British tabloid newspaper. Nektan also have a deal with LeoVegas, providing their unique slots games for integration into the brand. Most recently the group signed a deal with Come Dine With Me to create a bingo site based on the popular UK TV show.
The group are ran out of Gibraltar under the regulation of the Gibraltar Gambling Commission and in the UK by UK Gambling Commission. A search for the company on the UK Gambling Commission’s website shows that Nektan have no recorded sanctions against them from the commission.

A Host of Developers

Sunset Spins is a site which not only offers a huge amount of slots and casino games to punters, but also offers games from a wide range of developers. Surprisingly for a company which develops its own games it doesn’t try especially hard to push its own content. At the time of writing the two featured games on Sunset Spins are Wild Wild West and Starburst, both of them from the excellent team at NetEnt. Other games featured include Moby Dick by MicroGaming and Pegasus by Inspired. Sunset Spins offer games from a total of 18 developers so there is plenty of variety to be enjoyed.

Sunset Spins Casino Games

In the casino section of the site Sunset Spins finally pushes its own creations a little, with the top two titles of roulette and blackjack both being developed by Nektan. That’s not to say Nektan are your only options, the site also offers casino games from NetEnt, Realistic Games, Felt and Extreme Live Gaming. The live versions of casino games are provided by Extreme Live Gaming giving you the closest thing to a casino experience from the comfort of your home.

Sunset Spins Casino Bonuses

Sunset Spins has a 100% deposit match bonus for all new members up to the value of £10. If you qualify you also get 10 free spins worth a value of 10p per spin on Starburst. That means there is a total sign up bonus of £11 for all new members. This isn’t the best signup offer we’ve ever seen but it is still better than nothing at all. This bonus is also subject to a 30x wagering requirement so keep that in mind.
The site further has a win boost Wednesday offer. On Wednesday all winnings above your deposit figure are calculated and given a 10% boost. You must deposit a minimum of £10 on the day to qualify for the win boost but if you’re playing anyway this is not exactly a hardship. The win boost is capped at £50. The site has further offers and spin bonuses but most of these are capped at fairly low levels which gives the impression that Sunset Spins is aiming for a more cautious type of gambler, or one who only bets small amounts daily.

Sunset Spins Casino Banking

Sunset Spins doesn’t have a dedicated banking page, but for most queries regarding finances the FAQ does a reasonable job of explaining what procedures the company follows. Sunset Spins accepts payment from a number of credit cards and vendors including: Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Paysafe, Skrill, Trustly and Zimpler. The site further accepts payment from Boku, the payment services company which operates using your mobile phone number. This payment method allows you to pay for items by providing your mobile number and has the value of that payment added to your phone bill.
The maximum you can deposit into your casino account with Boku is £30 per day. Just remember that Boku payments are charged at 15% so only £25.50 of the payment is actually credited to your casino account. For all other deposit methods the casino has no charges. The company restricts punters to one withdrawal every 24 hours. The minimum withdrawal figure is £20 and the maximum is £2,000. Withdrawals may take 72 hours for the company to check before processing. As is often the case you need to provide photographic ID such as a driver’s licence as well as a utility bill to provide proof of address in order to complete some cash withdrawals.

Conclusion

Although Sunset Spins does not set itself apart from other casinos in Nektan’s catalogue, it is a very nicely produced and developed endeavour. The site looks gorgeous and while it cannot literally transport you to California’s sun-kissed coastline it does capture some of the feel of the OC. Although Nektan are an experienced operator of both casinos and games the site takes care not to push Nektan titles above all others. The range of titles on offer is excellent so there are plenty of options to keep your entertained.
A signup bonus at any site is always a welcome thing but at Sunset Spins the £10/£11 on offer does seem a little light. The inescapable conclusion is that Sunset Spins is a site that is aiming for low-rollers rather than high. Casino operators love small but consistent profits, much more than some punters realise. If you’re a little bit more cautious in your gambling and like to take the slow and steady approach then maybe a site like Sunset Spins could be ideal for you.

Kozmo Casino Review

Kozmo Casino is the newest online slot site in the galaxy and it is aiming to rocket right into your heart. Kozmo Casino is from the same people behind 888 Casinos, one of the largest and most recognised online casinos in the world. With that kind of backing you expect something pretty special and while Kozmo Casino may not be truly out of this world, it more than does the job.
Kozmo casino first launched into orbit on the 29th of September 2017 so it is a really fresh enterprise right now. The site has a notionally space theme which is mostly reinforced through Kozmic language and phrases rather than by any particular design elements. To be clear, the design of the site is functional and easy to navigate but it simply doesn't give credence to the idea that Kozmo casino is truly cosmic in nature. Instead its origins seem to have been a fairly standard website template from the planet known as Earth.

About Kozmo Casino

Kozmo Casino is operated by members of the 888 group and is headquartered in the fair island of Gibraltar. Specifically Kozmo is ran by Cassava Enterprises and Virtual Digital Services Limited which operate under a Gibraltar gaming license as well as 888 UK Limited which is regulated by the Great Britain Gambling Commission. The company is perhaps best known for their 888 casino and poker site which has been running since 1997. 888 has been the subject of a few large merger discussions including high street bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes but thus far nothing has come to fruition.
Kozmo Casino is crammed full of graphics and a rolling banner which showcases some of the main offers, promotions and benefits of the site. In that regard we might assume that some of the most pertinent and interesting information about Kozmo is featured there. Right now they boast that 300 slots are available at Kozmo, that you can play Kozmo from your mobile or tablet and that you can get up to 50 free spins a day. The more you play the more spins you get. The site further boasts that it only takes 2 minutes to sign-up so it isn’t overly taxing to get set-up and ready to play.

Kozmo’s Banking

As always with online casinos and gambling sites it isn’t the signup process which is the most complicated aspect of the process, but rather the banking and withdrawal process. Kozmo casino makes it simple enough to see the payment forms it accepts with a list at the very bottom of the landing page. Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Paypal and Entropay are amongst the types of payment accepted. When it comes to withdrawing sums of money Kozmo do a good job of explaining the process on their FAQ.
They are very upfront about exactly how long it takes for money to reach your bank account after a withdrawal. This depends exactly on how the money was deposited to Kozmo in the first place and varies from 3 days for Mastercard payments to 10 days for wire transfer. A good rule of thumb is is the payment will take 3-5 working days to reach you. Caution however, cheques issued by Northern Bank may take up to 21 days to clear for people outwith Europe. Best to avoid this deposit method if you need to collect any potential winnings in a hurry.

Kozmo Casino Bonuses

As with any online casino there are incentives for signing up and Kozmo offers a cash match bonus of £10 when you deposit £10. It further offers 10 free spins as part of the same offer. It is safe to say that this promotion may not excite more hardened gamblers, it seems designed to attract casual punters with a bit of something for nothing. For the casual crowd just beware a little, as you shouldn’t think about collecting that £10 bonus too quickly.
That £10 needs to be wagered a minimum of 35 times before it can be cashed out. If you have ever had a welcome bonus from one of the other sites in the 888 stable of casinos then you will not be eligible for a sign-up offer. The site further claims to have daily free spins with no wagering requirements but fails to go into any detail about how this process works.

Plenty to Enjoy

Slots on offer at Kozmo casino include titles such as Irish Eyes, Jack and the Beanstalk, Jungle Spirit, Enchanted Prince, Starburst and Rainbow Riches - a slot UK punters will be familiar with from its ubiquity in high street betting shops. Some of the other titles appear a little more generic but in a total selection of over 300 slots that is to be expected. There is also an arcade looking 80s retro slot called Arcader and a slot tied to Casper the friendly ghost titled Casper’s Mystery Mirror.

Numbers and Forms

Kozmo casino makes a big play of being a supportive and helpful site. As well as accepting what they refer to as a constellation of payment methods they further enforce this by saying your details are thoroughly secure with them. In the UK they have a toll free help number between the hours of 9am and 1am, but for elsewhere in the world there is a form to complete in order to receive a response. Despite the fanfare regarding help and support this may take up to 72 hours to receive a response from. It is safe to say that the support side is not a 24/7 service for anyone who only deals with the firm through online methods.

Kozmo Casino in Conclusion

As a fresh face in the online casino marketplace Kozmo does just about enough to distinguish itself from the rest. The space theme makes for a good working concept and this is followed through in the descriptions and wordplay on the landing page. Sadly, this level of effort has not gone into the graphical design of the logo or anything else here. The site is completely functional if nothing else.
With a £10 sign-up bonus and free spins the site doesn’t offer a huge amount of incentives for signing up so the main strengths seem to be a large array of video slots to choose from. The other plus point of the site is that the financial side of things seems safe and secure enough to give punters some confidence in what they are getting into. In a crowded marketplace of online casinos launching a new brand is quite an undertaking, especially if you want it to get really get noticed. With that being said the question remains whether Kozmo casino has enough escape velocity to break free of the atmosphere and launch into orbit or whether it will come crashing down to Earth with a bump.

Cult Status

[This originally began as a response to FellowHuman007 on his latest post R-E-S-P-E-C-T, and he's the one I'm addressing initially. But as I eclipsed their magical two paragraph post limit, it quickly became apparent that my ideas are all but wasted over there, where they will be ignored and tone-policed into obscurity, so fuck it. It's my absolute honor to post here instead. What follows my initial response to him is a meditation on the meaning of the word "cult".]
I notice you have a penchant for spinning topics in the manner of a journalist or politician. Seems to be your go-to strategy... reframing something in a way that makes it sound more like something your opponent doesn't want to hear. Which is cool, but the thing about spin is that it it doesn't have any substance, and it can easily be spun back.
For example: On two separate occasions, you made mention of the rather important stance we take on our sub against private messages being sent to our contributors of such a nature that would not be allowed publicly on the forum. It's a crucial point for maintaining the integrity of a forum such as ours. It's something we can't prevent from happening in the first place, but we can still discourage the practice by calling it out publicly when it happens.
The way you chose to frame it, for some reason -- twice -- was as an issue of free speech: Oh, we here at MITA are so libertarian that we would never try and restrict anyone's personal communications like they do over there at WB.. If you want to chat at the mods or anyone else here, feel free to do so!
That was cute and all, and it's your right to put things however you want, but it was still an obvious pivot away from the reality of the situation. What if we brought it back to a more neutral conception, and asked it like this: "Is it understandable that a forum which exists as a safe space for people trying to leave a group, would maintain a stance against it's contributors being privately messaged by active members of said group?" I don't think anybody would have a problem saying yes to that, if you were to poll people on the street for example. It sounds like the most reasonable thing in the world.
And what if we even spun the idea into even more unfavorable territory by asking it this way: "Can you understand why an anti-cult message board would have an issue with having its contributors being messaged by members of the the exact cult it exists to denounce?". I think everyone would still be on board with that, including members of the SGI itself, so long as they didn't know it was their group being discussed.
And what if we spun it even further? "Is it reasonable for the mods of an anti-cult forum to be pissed off at the idea of having its contributors -- especially the newest ones who are likely in a very confused and fragile emotional state as they undergo one of the biggest transition periods of their lives -- made easy targets for emotional manipulation by heedless members of the group everyone there is desperate to escape?". I still think most people would say yes to that as well, although at that level of vehemence it would become obvious that I'm doing some spinning of my own, and that I sound a little biased. Would I feel justified in saying it that way? Absolutely, but by the same token, adding too much spin to our ideas takes something away from their believability.
You know, I hear what Andinio is saying, which is that if the basis of our disagreement is going to be one of spin, then it'll never be possible to make any progress. One side says one thing, the other side spins it back. So he makes his appeal to objectivity, in the form of suggesting we stick to some kind of sources, and do "line-by-line readings" in search of something objectively true we can discuss. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense for our purposes over at WB, because we're not a religious discussion board, but I get where he's coming from. We're looking for something objective to say about a subject that is essentially mystical, and also defined by the vagaries of human interaction.
And with so much about this topic being so very subjective and personal (what does it even mean to say that a practice "works", for example), we all would do well to allow that everyone understands the subject a little differently.
But the reason we're not afraid to debate you on any aspect of it, is because we believe that if there is terra firma in this sprawling sociological discussion, we're the ones standing directly on it. The anti-cult side roots all of its arguments in the ethos that individuals are not to blame for the effects of a broken system, which can still have the most beautiful people in the world in it, but be fundamentally flawed or designed in some way to take advantage.
It's like how you can go into a casino and point out all the little ways the place is designed to mess with your mind while also stacking the odds against you. It doesn't mean you still can't go to the casino and have a great time, and some people (relatively few) come out ahead, but the objective truth is that the experience is designed to be unfair.
That's where the "cult" designation comes from, and it doesn't just belong to the SGI, not by a long shot. It can be applied to all sorts of things, like multi-level marketing for example, where the selling of actual merchandise is just a cover for the real product, which is you. It's you they want -- your confidence, your loyalty, your effort, your enthusiasm, your connections and your money.
This is a thought I've had for some time now, which is that the definition of cult is missing something. It's too subjective. If you Google it, you find four definitions, saying that a cult is a group, it's a devoted group, it's religiously devoted to someone or something, and it's sometimes suspect. And that's all we get, which really does us no favors on the anti-cult advocacy side of things, because anyone who wants to defend a group could say that the common usage of the word is as a way of saying "a group I don't like", and they wouldn't be entirely wrong.
I know we have a very sensible 100-point checklist for things a cult does, but that's not quite the same as saying what one is.
What I propose is a fifth aspect to the word "cult", which would be, "any group that has recruitment as its primary purpose". This provides us with a simple criterion by which we could judge something's most fundamental reason for existing, which would exclude things like businesses and public services.
For example, a major sports team is not a cult, because it's a business. Its primary purpose is to make money. The fanbase of said team, however, could be described as a cult, because it exists just to exist.
(Of course this first example also highlights the issue of degree to which someone is devoted to something. The fan who watches the occasional game is perhaps in a different category of fan as those who get tattoos and engage in pregame rituals. There's still subjectivity there in terms of where that line is drawn.)
The department of sanitation in your city? Definitely not a cult. Its job is to pick up trash so we don't die.
Police department? Much tougher call, because so many aspects of it are in fact very fraternal, but not a cult because it fulfills a basic need.
A political governing body? Cult-like, potentially, but ultimately not a cult because it serves many purposes. A political party, however? Very much a cult, since it exists only to recruit people.
As mentioned before, multi-level marketing, for sure, if we make the case that selling of products is secondary to the real activity, which is recruitment. People do make money in pyramid schemes, but they are doing so as a cult.
Labor unions? Professional organizations? Nah. They have stated purposes of their own.
The army? Extremely cult-like, but no, the army is the army.
Street gang? Most definitely.
Government itself? In many respects, no, but a particular regime could be one... Or based on one, as is the case with so many politicians who belong to secret societies, and who put secret oaths ahead of their sworn duties.
How about major religions? Well, it's complicated, because of how interwoven a religion can be with all aspects of society and governance, but ultimately when you strip all that away, we see that religions, in their various forms, exist just to exist. I suppose religion lends itself to cult formation -- perhaps it's the basic template for the cult idea itself -- and it's up to individuals to actualize it or not. Certainly there are many, many cults within each major religion.
Perhaps the answer has something to do with there being different types of cults. Some recruit strangers and some don't. Some are benign or even beneficial, while others aren't. Take a fraternity, for example, or a sorority, or any other kind of secret society that exists. They are all cults, by multiple definitions, but by the same token that's not necessarily a bad thing. There are a lot of people out there, myself included, who would count joining an initiatory society (even one with no real secrets, and whose only real purpose was to drink beer), as one of the most important, defining, and valuable experiences of my entire life.
Which brings us to our friends at the SGI, which is really more of a co-ed fraternity than it is a religion. Much like with multi-level marketing, the ostensible activity -- which in this case would be behaving religiously towards a scroll -- is a cover story for what it really exists to do, which is to grow itself if possible, or at least remain viable. It makes no attempt to even look like it's using its vast financial and human resources for the benefit of anything other than itself, which makes it a very clear-cut example of something that exists only to further its own ends.
The SGI is most definitely a cult, by at least two definitions: that it exists primarily to recruit, and also in how it is a blatantly obvious example of a cult of personality.
And I'm glad I took the long way to get here, o ye who would take umbrage, so now you have some better sense of what I mean by that. There are different types of cults, not all of them are bad. Some are kind of nice. Perhaps even the same group can have levels to it, whereby some people can participate from the outside, while others are fully immersed in the cult aspects. There is a lot of variability within the basic concept.
What ultimately matters about a group, then, is its level of integrity. Is it upfront with people about what it is, or does it hide the essential fact? And does it use manipulative and unfair tactics to control people, or can it remain above that? Does the whole thing run on peer pressure or coercion?
Let's return to the example of a college frat. There are some bad frats out there, for certain, and others that are far more nice to those trying to enter, but what they all are -- in addition to being cults -- is upfront about what is going on. They sit you down at the beginning, once you signal your agreement to join, and explain the basic concept: For the next two-and-a-half months, we are going to make your life a living hell. No one's going to hit you, molest you, or put you in real danger, but you will be worked hard, kept very confused, and generally treated as a second-class citizen. But when it's over, it's over, and you'll be one of us. We do this because it's a hell of a ride, and because it solidifies the bonds within your group while also connecting you with a greater lineage."
And that, my friends -- no matter how uncouth and crazy and downright stupid or mean the next two-and-a-half months would get, is called honesty. The basic premise was never a secret to be discovered later. In that context, we were fully agreeing to be lied to, so that the lies weren't really lies, it was more like an interactive and very dramatic theatrical performance. And you know what? They were right. It was a lot of fun, I made some amazing friendships along the way, pushed myself well outside the comfort zone, and grew. I would do it all again.
But a frat is still a cult, by my own definition, with strong in-group bias, and persistent recruitment pressure. In fact, maybe that's why I never took the real plunge into SGI, is because I already belonged to a cult, and I had a sense for how one operates. Also, I know what hazing is, and I wasn't about to accept any of it from some kid twelve years my junior in a blue tie... especially when I DIDN'T sign up to do free labor, I DIDN'T sign up to be in a cult of personality, and the true nature of the experience is NOT fully explained upfront. You have to figure it out for yourself in the SGI that they are trying to use you and make you spend your social capital, because they aren't honest about it when they are lovebombing you and foisting a scroll upon you.
THAT'S what makes it problematic, is the lack of transparency, coupled with heavy doses of tried-and-true mental manipulation tactics of both a religious and a purely social nature.
I'm not going to pretend my frat ever made any kind of difference in the community. I mean there was that one time we recycled $600 dollars worth of Keystone Light cans to donate to the community center (doing our part!), but it remained pretty much on that token level. That's not what this is about. I'm not saying that a group should be judged by their works, or that a secret society necessarily has any obligation to help random strangers. No, the reason I'm not trying to criticize the SGI based on its complete lack of philanthropic activity (tempting as it is to do so), is because I also wouldn't the converse to be true: I wouldn't want to suggest that a group built on a dishonest premise could somehow be redeemed if it did nice things in the community. A dishonest premise is a dishonest premise, period.
So there you have it. I think the definition of the word cult should first be standardized into a simple yes or no proposition, with considerstion for how the same group can have both inner and outer circles. After that, each cult should be judged on its own merits in terms of transparency -- in other words, do people really know what they're signing up for? I do not think the word should be used in a stigmatizing way, or as a shorthand for "group I don't like", because to do so obscures the truth that cult-like groupings can be found almost anywhere you look in society. It's not so much anti-cult that I think we should be called to be, but rather anti-bad-cult, and the reason I say that is because I think the word should be normalized.
Humans are groupthink animals, much closer to sheep than lions, and the only reason cults work so well as vehicles for profit and power, and are also magnets for so many power-hungry individuals, is because we humans are so easily manipulable using predictable methods. And we're also very good at both policing and deceiving ourselves.
Okay, one more example of what I mean by a dishonest group. So there's this secret society, right? Rather famous and influential one, known for working initiates up this ladder that has 33 levels. I don't belong to it, but I once heard this description of how it works, and it was rather jarring. It starts out in the beginning with a simple phrase: "All we ask is trust", and you take the first set of oaths. Along the way, the oaths get more intense, and you actually start pledging loyalty to various deities. At each level: all we ask is trust. (If anyone ever says that to you, by the way, be highly suspicious). The idea is that the whole thing is building up to something, some kind of total commitment, some kind of act for you to perform, some kind of revelation about who runs the world and which deity is really behind the curtain. Something. And there you are standing in the presence of this huge revelation -- facing down something, perhaps, that if you had known what it was in the beginning, you wouldn't have even considered signing up in the first place -- except now you have the combined weight of having already said "I do" to these people thirty-two frickin times. The ladder is designed like a series of successive traps, such that when the moment comes, you won't be able to say no, even if you want to. So you take the leap of faith...
Do I know if any of that is true, or just a myth? No I do not. The point is that the principle is sound: if you want to get someone to go along with something they wouldn't normally want to, one way to do it is to put that thing behind a series of successive firewalls and make them feel like they're earning it. That's just one trick out of many.
So when we levy criticism at something like the SGI, it's done with an eye for how many of those types of tactics and mental traps does it actually employ? If there were none, and everything were completely transparent, there'd be nothing to criticize. But alas, the tricks are there. Of course it's not full-on black magic that this group is doing (it actually falls into the category known as grey magic, for anyone who's wondering), but there are still things about how it functions that are designed to ensnare.
It could be something as subtle as suggesting that your "karma" will go to shit if you leave, or any other way of taking advantage of people's superstition. As I wrote in my last essay, proselytizing is a suckers game, because it actually works to keep you enmeshed in the group. Giving an "experience" is by its very nature a dishonest act, because it is clearly expected of people to tell a certain kind of story. (When was the last time you heard an experience that said "I started chanting the other day, and then my laptop exploded and my cat ran away." I didn't think so.). Forcing people into leadership roles is an obvious tactic as well, and for many of us it was the reason we got out in the first place. Even the constant pressure to appear happy, including when you don't really that way on the inside, is a very unhealthy place to be and a major emotional trap.
And then it could be something as obvious as when a person feels entitled to send unsolicited messages of emotional guilting to participants on an anti-cult forum. Do you see how ill-mannered that is?
So if we're looking for objectivity in this discussion about psychology and group dynamics, I think it can easily be found by looking for these types of principles operating just under the surface of a group's workings. Then we can ask the basic question of: do people know what they're signing up for, or are they in for some kind of surprise? Perhaps not the easiest question to answer, given that some people seem to very much enjoy what the group has to offer, while others of us have regrets, but that's why there's such a vital need for forums such as this one, where people can give true reports of their real feelings and experiences, free from the social pressures and guilting of active cult members.

TL;DR Magic in Runeterra: How it exists and is used.

TL;DR Magic in Runeterra: How it exists and is used.
To preface, this post is meant to elucidate some of the properties of magic: how it exists and functions in the world of Runeterra. For the purposes of this post, I will not go into much depth regarding the complex magics, and will instead primarily refer to the main 3 “streams”. Points will be backed up using reliable sources, Scathlocke being the Head of all things Narrative and Worldbuilding-wise in Lore. That being said, until Riot releases information on Universe or Nexus, (while unlikely) things are liable to change regarding information provided by Rioters in twitter and boards replies, thus should be taken with a grain of salt.

__________________________________________________________________

The Origins of Magic:

As Runeterra, an amalgamation of the Spiritual and Material/Physical realms, was created by an unknown race of Celestials using the World Runes, all magic can be said to have roots in the Celestial Realm. While that might make it seem superior, being the originator, think of it more like it fostered the growth of the realms to becoming their own distinct units.

In the League of Legends Universe (main), magic exists in three distinct forms: Celestial, Spiritual and Elemental. From there, you have multiple blends and combinations.
N.B. The energy produced by those of the Void is NOT magic.
https://twitter.com/LaurieGoulding/status/1137415463535693824

__________________________________________________________________

Fundamentally, each main stream encompasses specific concepts, one is not inherently better than the other and, to varying extents, each is able to mimic some of the effects of the other:

  • - Celestial Magic deals with creation and pure ideals, thus can also include maintenance, change and destruction.
  • - Spirit Magic deals with mental and emotional concepts, life as well as reality and the perception of it.
  • - Elemental Magic deals with the manipulation of the physical world and the physical laws and rules of reality (Physics).

Magic exists ambiently; flowing as metaphysical rivers and streams throughout the world similar in concept to ley lines. Areas where magic is high in concentration will commonly produce the most number of natural born mages, to the point where it is less likely for one to not possess the ability to use/do magic. The reverse is true for those born in an area where ambient magic is low in concentration. This is evidenced with Ionia and Ixtal, being fonts of Elemental and Spiritual magic respectively, whereas a region like Demacia; surrounded and founded upon magic nullifying petricite, very few mages are produced.
https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/04/dev-on-vastayan-evolution/

Each stream of magic flows from an origin source: Celestial magic flows from the Celestial Realm as well as the World Runes, Spiritual Magic originates from the Spiritual Realm, and Elemental Magic from the Physical realm, all suffusing into the material plane.
https://twitter.com/LaurieGoulding/status/1229983493188284418
Regions where the barriers between realms are weakest and the magic flows strongest are known as “fonts” of magic. Ionia is an example of this in regards to spirit magic. To varying extents, use of each main branch can mirror the other and produce similar effects, even if not strictly the same source/magic type (e.g. all can produce fire).
https://twitter.com/LaurieGoulding/status/1229983493188284418
As said before, Ionia is a font of spirit magic. The barriers between the mortal and spirit realm are less distinct, thereby allowing the two to interact in strange, exotic manners. As a result, spirit magic suffuses and saturates the lands of Ionia. However, raw concentrated spirit magic has chaotic, unpredictable effects upon reality, making the environment a dangerous place. As such, humans erected Quinlons in Ionia to restrict and filter the flow of magic from the fonts. Quinlons being man-made magical filters that limit the amount of magic flowing from the spirit realm into Ionia... they also filter out the more chaotic/negative energy, concentrating it into a liquid-like substance (IchoTears). When tattooed upon the skin or consumed, this concentrated negative magic enables the use and manipulation of shadow magic (used to great effect by Zed and his Order). Currently, the agreement between humans and Vastaya has been shattered: The Quinlons are restricting too much magic, and Zed’s Order actively alters some to fuel their shadow magic. The vastaya, requiring magic to live similarly to how we need air to live, are understandably not too ecstatic.
https://www.leagueboards.net/thread/8c0b14a1-6a72-420b-a4f7-fe97a02684e2/show-threadhttps://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/04/dev-on-vastayan-evolution/

Theoretically, Targon would serve as a font of Celestial magic seeing as the barriers between the mortal and Celestial Realm are thinnest near the peak, thereby allowing the easiest interaction and allowing the magic to suffuse onto the physical plane.
A region serving as a font of magic doesn't necessarily mean only that type of magic is present. It just acts as a source.
One doesn't have to be on a ley line/stream to do magic... the effects and efficiency just increase with proximity, similar to a wifi/cell signal. As they encompass the entirety of Runeterra, you are almost always guaranteed to have some signal (barring specific scenarios/anomalies.)

How Magic is Used:

Anyone and everyone can learn to harness magic, however, not everyone is born with the talent. These lucky individuals are known as mages.
https://twitter.com/LaurieGoulding/status/1159016781278789636
From what we’ve seen, mages don't quite generate magic per se, they access what is naturally present, interacting with the ambient magic in the environment rather than directly producing it. More akin to vessels than generators, their strength and aptitude likely depends on how much they can store, channel, shape and emit (as well as restore) at any given time. But, as said by Ryze in “From the Ashes” magic likes to be used, not stored… similar to the air we hold in our lungs… a quite apt comparison that will be explained further below in theory crafting. This is the trend for most mortals.
Those born of magic, those with magic WITHIN them, as part of them, often referred to as "magical" beings, are far more attuned to the magic out there in the world, able to interact and shape magic in ways most can’t even begin to fathom due to their intrinsic link. An example being the Vastaya, who are more innately connected to magic, requiring it to live (like how we need to breathe oxygen to survive). Their use of magic still follows the same principle of not being innately generated, yet their connection allows them to perceive and interact with the worlds in exotic ways. The Vastayashai’rei, the ancient ancestors of our modern Vastaya further demonstrate this: Originally mortals, they learnt how to be completely 1:1 between the material and spirit realms, taking in the spirit realm and becoming deathless, manipulating the magics of each realm… effectively becoming “super mages”.

The Axiomata is a system solely related to Elemental Magic and its manipulations to varying effects. It serves as a formulaic/diagrammatic system of understanding and manipulating elemental magic inspired by the flow of the natural “currents” of magic but itself isn't one of the flows, merely one understanding. It's a system of teaching and learning elemental magic, akin to studying strict formulas (or Axioms) based on rules. The benefit to it is that anyone can learn it, Ryze's critique of it would be that it limits and restricts magic's potential.
https://twitter.com/LaurieGoulding/status/1242485570854465540

In The Axiomata (Short Story), a ley line was "tapped" and “swum” through, enabling Aliay to interact with the world in a broader, more encompassing fashion thereby allowing him to see and experience the outside world and glimpse ongoing events outside of Ixtal.

In terms of those who seem to directly challenge the established "magic isn't produced innately" principle, in a sense, they don't. Looking at the Aspects (the hosts more so than the actual Celestial Aspects) and the Ascended, they are directly (and indirectly for the Ascended) rigged to the Aspects, thereby serving as conduits and as such, are able to channel their power. Using Leona’s color story, "The Light Bringer" as an example:
“Leona let the fire into her blood, feeling the ancient creature merge its essence with hers more completely, becoming one with her senses and gifting her with perceptions not of this world.”
and
“She reached deep inside herself, drawing on the awesome power from beyond the mountain. The sun emerged from behind its highest peaks as Leona thrust her hand to the light.”
On the other hand, we have Syndra who seemingly produces magic. To an extent this is true, what she presumably does still falls in line with the fundamental concept of mages. While not officially shown on the League Universe, if we go by the original version of "The Dreaming Pool", "The Dreaming Cave" (which was edited for clarity and to cut down on length) Instead of being relegated to only using the ambient natural magics of the physical world, Syndra is able to rip magic directly from the Spiritual Realm.
“Syndra conjured another dark sphere—all of her bitterness, resentment and anger made manifest. Torn from the spirit realm across the threshold into reality, it hovered above her hand, slowly spinning.”

It's something that is unique to her and can be quite dangerous to the natural lands (as we know that pure, concentrated spirit magic flowing can have adverse, chaotic effects.)
https://www.leagueboards.net/thread/74fd339a-b9be-4a95-a933-d9c149777e28/show-thread

Her magic leaches the lands of the natural, ambient magic, thereby causing something akin to "magical fallout" and irradiating the environment. This implies her magic is flooding and washing out the natural magics of the land… replacing it with hers: Raw, concentrated Spirit magic.
We know, from the information about Quinlons, that spirit magic in high concentrations is dangerous and adversely affects the physical realm, particularly when negative. Something further suggested in Syndra’s Biography:
”Such negativity had a strange, unpredictable effect on reality, and Syndra had grown far beyond his ability as a mentor.”
And further falls in line with information given to us about Fae’lor in “The Dreaming Pool” and Sisterhood of War Part 1: Old Wounds regarding the quality of the lands of the island before and after Syndra’s first and second rampages.
The fact that Syndra's mood state mirrors the effect of the Quinlons further substantiates this.

In regards to the specifics of how mages utilize magic (theory work that falls in line with everything we know):

https://preview.redd.it/z47osvjxe5751.png?width=770&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cc0054b80e620b420db0c1392adc18081f1cbe0
This is a graph detailing the process of breathing, specifically as it relates to the volume of air present in the lungs at any given time. Tidal Volume is the range of normal, unconscious breathing: The volume inhaled and exhaled normally.
As shown in the graph, after breathing out at Tidal Volume (the decline at that level), there's still more air present in your lungs due to them not having fully deflated. Thus, even after breathing out at normal levels)more air may be expelled: Expiratory Reserve Volume.
The reverse is true for the process of inhalation: Inhalation at Tidal Volume, then continuing to inhale to reach the Inspiratory Reserve Volume.
(Deep breath in-> inspiratory reserve volume, deep breath out-> Expiratory reserve volume)... inhaling and exhaling a lot more air than you will in normal breathing... with the normal breathing level being tidal volume.
Big breaths In and Out usually require conscious intent, whereas the Tidal Volume is usually unconsciously regulated. After reaching the Expiratory Reserve Volume, more air still remains in the lungs, known as the Residual Volume. This is almost never accessed and exhaled, requires rigorous intent, and is dangerous to attempt. The total span of these is the Total Lung Capacity.

Now, to apply this concept to mages:
Most mages seemingly don’t consciously draw upon magic, rather they passively draw in and absorb magic, similar to the tidal volume of breathing. Following this logic, there would remain a base level of magic that "exists" within the mage... This doesn’t mean it is innately produced, it is just a sink that's partially filled. (For comparison, relate it to the Expiratory Reserve Volume.)
As such, most mages will only know about emitting magic... not absorbing it, because most of the time, they're just consciously pushing out and manipulating magic, instead of consciously drawing it in.
More adept mages know how to consciously draw in more magic than they'd normally have access to, and know how to regulate the intake, use and emission: Ryze in From the Ashes is an example of this, displayed when trying to teach Kegan:
“You do not create the air you breathe,” the sorcerer said. “You draw it inside you, letting it sustain you. You use it as your body requires, and then release it as you exhale. It is never yours. You are just a vessel for it. You breathe in, you breathe out. You are a channel through which air flows.”
Kegan made to release his breath, though his master shook his head.
“No. Not yet. Feel the air in your lungs, Kegan. Feel it pushing at the cage of your body. Feel it straining to escape.”
And
“Therein lies the problem,” his master observed, reading his posture. “I told you the air was not yours, yet you are thrilled with yourself for how long you kept it inside you. It is the same with magic. You want it, believing it can be owned. You cling to it, forgetting that you are merely a channel through which it passes. You choke it in your heart, and in your hands. And so the magic is strangled in your grip, because you see it as something to bind to your will. It is not, and never will be. It is like air. You must draw in what exists around you, use it for a moment, then let it free.”

Lissandra, in Legend of the Frozen Watchers, is another example:
“Summoning every last iota of the ancient magic around her, including that of her allies, she sacrificed everything to seal the rift-between-realms with True Ice, entombing the Watchers within it.”

When you try to take a deep breath in, the air eventually starts fighting to get out... the balloon is strained; you can't retain that level and, inevitably, the air escapes. Similarly to Ryze's explanation of why Kegan was failing at storing the magic.

From this, I posit what happens with mages around petricite is similar to what happens when you enter a vacuum: Those unaware and not consciously regulating the level of air will have their breath stolen. However, if you are aware, and know about the base concepts of consciously breathing, you will be able to store your air for a period of time before it gets taken. And with training, the level you are able to store, and the duration of which the breath may be held, increases. (You can relate this to holding your breath underwater, you know not to exhale... and if prepared, you know to inhale more than normal and hold your breath.)

Petricite nullifies magic by absorbing it, effectively sapping and stealing the mage’s reserves. For those aware of its properties, and adept at manipulating magic, they would be able to “hold their breath” i.e. hold their magic tightly for a short while, enabling them to continue controlled usage of it. An example of this is seen in the Ryze Cinematic, "Call of Power", when Ryze performs magic in the Petricite Forest.

It should be noted this isn't a literal 1:1 transition of concepts, it’d likely be much harder to recognize and consciously regulate the levels of magic (as displayed by Kegan), but the fundamental concept would remain the same.
To be clear though, this does not speak to the shaping of magic and how it manifests for each mage. How each mage manifests the phenomenon is tied to their ideals and the cultural influences shaping it and to an extent, is ultimately personal: e.g. Lux being tied to "light", and those in The Freljord being more inclined to ice and shamanistic magics etc.
As said before, each person's approach to magic is pretty unique... Even within the Yun Tal, there are proficiencies and unique understandings/perspectives of shaping magic, this is what enables them to keep making new axioms and experiment further).
To use an example that ties back to the theory proposed, Sylas' innate approach is to be able to see/sense it and copy/take that "template"... Akin to a copiecheater in class who takes someone's homework. If he learned, he likely would have the capacity to do his own crafting of spells/magic.
You can consider it the reverse of Lissandra/Ryze... in a sense (theory-wise), he's currently only able to inhale consciously and exhale passively (tidal volume-> Inspiratory Reserve Volume) but not quite able to do it passively. His "tidal volume" is negligible, but his "lungs" are very elastic so can inhale a lot, however, similarly to an untied balloon, would be forced to expel most of the magic once it's not being consciously drawn in. Added to this, there is likely a limit to how much he can take in at any given time, less he risks being overloaded.
The Petricite would therefore act as the containeoxygen tank for the magic absorbed... allowing him to access it whenever needed.. whereas without it, he's constantly been shown to immediately use the magic upon absorbing (can't hold it for long...if at all).
In regards to why he can't consciously absorb ambient magic, it's likely too diffuse and "unconcentrated"/""unstable", whereas the magic stored in petricite and other mages etc already has a stable template... concentrated in once place, thereby enabling to have a firmer "grasp". Sorta like how u can pick up a block of ice, but doing the same with water or vapor is much harder.... it "slips" out. Relating back to if his base volume is low, but the "elastic potential" of his "vessel" is high, the diffuse magic absorbed wouldn't be much in the first place, plus he hasn't innately adapted an application to shaping the magic himself, so he naturally does what he's best suited to: Inflating his proverbial balloon by filling with the concentrated, stabilized templates of others and emitting it (or storing in the petricite).
TLDR on mages, and Scath’s thoughts on the theory:

Flavor of life information regarding entities seemingly comprised of magic: Spirits and Celestials.

Spirits:
Spirits are the natural denizens of the Spirit Realm, everything that exists upon the physical realm is said to have a spiritual reflection, as learned in Riven's color story, "Seams and Scars".

“I’m a mender,” she said as she held the pottery out to a wide-eyed Riven. “No need to replace anything.”
Riven took the plate and examined it. “How does it work?” she asked, running a finger down a thick black seam.
"Everything has a spirit, and every spirit wants to be whole. I ask them what they need to mend, and give it to them.”
The concept of “time” exists differently from how it does in the physical realm… if it exists at all (Evidenced by Bandle City, as well as the Vastaya Forests). Many spirits seemingly start as something primordial, shapeless, and barely sentient before being tied to varying concepts, fundamentally shaping their interaction with the world, as somewhat evidenced by Evelynn and the nature of the Spirit Gods (Spirit gods, if completely forgotten, revert to the state described). It is not known if this is true for all residents of the spirit realm. Yordles are fundamentally different from other spirits encountered. I.e. they are much more physical and “substantial”.
The Spirit Realm itself is also comprised of “pocket dimensions” that do not have a physical realm correlation. The Glade is an example of this, the dimension of the Fae (of which Lulu’s companion, Pix, is a part of). It is theorized that Bandle City may be an offshoot of The Glade.
When mortals die, their souls are transported to the Spirit Realm, upon whence they’ll be placed in the Afterlife/world. Many "afterlife/afterworld" pocket dimensions exist, Mitna Rachnum (Mordekaiser's death realm) is one of them. Rarely (relatively speaking) do souls make their way into Mordekaiser's realm however. The Shadow Isles deserves mention as the catastrophe that occured warped the rules of the natural worlds, as well as life and death. The raw necromantic (spiritual) magic that suffuses the lands has warped reality and stilled the passage of time. It has become a region of undeath as a result of the trapped souls being unable to truly pass on.

Aside from Yordles, the Fae and souls, other spirits exist, those standing out being Demons and Spirit Gods:

All demons are spirits, not all spirits are demons. I.e. Demons are a specific type of spirit. (This is for actual demons, not entities that have been labelled demonic despite being of human/physical or even celestial origin.) They subsist and feed on emotions, specifically those that are negative or overabundant to the point of negativity/overindulgence. They also perpetuate these feelings either directly, or indirectly in mortals. E.g. Evelynn feeds on agony and pain, and will seduce then torture people, feeding off of their pain. Tahm Kench on the other hand, subsists on misery resulting from greed, gluttony and addiction. He will tempt the person, and when they fall prey to that, will feed off of them. Demons can feed incrementally or devour the person wholly... sometimes literally, sometimes metaphorically. Generally it ultimately results in the person's death.

Spirit Gods are best described as “spiritual embodiments of concepts and cultural ideals”. They are ancient beings granted relevance aeons prior to common mortal existence. They hearken back to when the barriers between realms were ephemeral, thus could gain footholds in the physical plane and mortal cultures. It is theorized that they were originally spirits of certain concepts that managed to link themselves to the culture of mortals, gaining power, form and true sapience due to the increasing worship and cultural attention. Others hypothesize that they themselves were completely “born” of the combined perceptions of a staunch faith. Whatever they may be, it has been noted to be incredibly unlikely for a new Spirit God to form as the conditions of the current worlds do not favor it. Instead it’ll be more likely for an already established entity to fill that attention.
Points to note regarding Spirits:
  • To an extent, every spirit so far has a basis on perception... Not everything is literally "I need you to believe in me for me to live." For demons, their source of "attention" or gaining sustenance is based on the emotion/mental energy that they are draining and perpetuating. Not necessarily a need for belief. Though many do have their own cults of worship, so it's likely that some of that energy can be fed upon too... but ultimately, it's the energy of the emotion/feeling/concept that needs to be there, not a belief.
  • A demon will take shape based on the desired appeal of the person perceiving them. To a lusty, heterosexual man, Eve will appear as an incredibly sexy, sultry lady, thereby tempting him to pursue her. Tahm Kench will appear as a seller or peddler of goods and fortunes, an auctioneer… perhaps even a Casino roulette. Whatever will appeal to and best exploit that person's inner weakness and temptations.
  • Spirits can physically take form by animating and using physical materials nearby, scrapping them together to achieve the desired form (As we see with Fiddlesticks and Volibear)... they can also materialize as condensed raw magic given form. There are rules and limitations guiding how they manifest of which we haven't been privy to. However, we can assume it's based on their current strength, abundance of magic around and the context of the situation. They can choose a form, but often will appear based on the perceptions and inherent beliefs and moods of the surrounding mortals. But yes, they can shapeshift and are the reason why the Vastayashai'rei and their descendants, the Vastaya, have such fluid form.

*Nagakabouros has been confirmed to be a Spirit God, born of the Spirit Realm. The true scope of her being is not known beyond being linked with Life, Chaos and Motion. Other examples of Spirit Gods include Kindred, the Freljordian Demigods and Janna. Demons include Fiddlesticks, Raum, Nocturne, Tahm Kench and Evelynn.

Celestials:
Those of the Celestial Realm are known as Celestials. The antithesis of the Void and its denizens, The Watchers. The Celestial Realm and its inhabitants are heavily centered around creation and maintenance. Not much is known about these timeless entities however they played a key role in the creation of the cosmos as well as Runeterra and its development as a whole. Fate and the celestial machinations guiding mortal existence can be interpreted by looking to the heavens however, to the ire of some, Mortals are not beholden to these preset destinies, and instead often create their own.
The Celestials that we know of are Aurelion Sol, his kin, The Aspects, Bard, and Soraka.
Aspects are the pure ideals/celestial concepts made “personified”, and will occasionally bind with a mortal host and traverse Runeterra to do whatever work is needed.
*(Edited in for clarity:) The Ascended are indirectly rigged to Aspects (celestial concepts). Ascension doesn't necessarily grant them celestial magic, it dramatically magnifies all of their previous traits.

[A Beginner Friendly Casino Heist Guide] I decide to convert some of pain with randoms into this shareable

[A Beginner Friendly Casino Heist Guide] I decide to convert some of pain with randoms into this shareable
It is my first time composing a guide like this for GTA Online. So any criticism or suggestion is welcome! I really wish this can be helpful. There is a ton of wiki about it but I am just going to refine them into my own words.
Btw, this guide is not for people who is already a veteran. Casino heist is the easiest way to make a quick fortune so far because you can join a finale through your phone (although there is a cool down time between each). And you probably won't find any extreme method to maximize payout such as glitch. The main purpose of this article is help people have fun.
Scope Out
This is something you do once and for all. So there is no reason why you don't scope out all access points and P.O.I.. You can launch this mission every time when you are hosting the heist, but can only be done before selecting approach. There is plenty of Youtube videos about where to find them such as this.
Vault Content
Just to to the observatory and find 2 guys chatting. Sometimes they are at the front door but most of the time they are on the left side of building. One guy with a baseball cap and the other "bigger" guy with a cowboy hat. Start hacking through securoserv app while walk along with the guard while he takes a phone call. Don't run into or kill him cuz that will get cops on you. Hacking into security camera is easy so let's skip that (sometimes the Wi-Fi spot is in the restroom).
Casino Model & Door Security & Vault Door
All of them are complete waste of money. Casino model is purely decorative. If you want to practice hacking, just ask teammates or friends nicely to give you a shot in the vault or watch Youtube. And there is no need to practice drilling vault door because you are not on a time limit.
Before we jump into approaches, there is a prep mission called "Security Intel". It gives you all the camera vision without having to getting close to a camera. You will need to complete all Diamond Casino & Resort story missions as the host in order to unlock this mission. Once it's done, you don't have to do it again. The camera intel stays with you. JUST DO IT FOR VINCENT'S SAKE.
Prep Board
Next, I'm gonna tell you what each prep mission means and which optional missions are actually worth doing imo.
  • Silent & Sneaky
  1. Gunner: Hire the cheapest guy because you are not supposed to exchange fire anyway. There are two loadouts to choose from and both works great.
  2. Driver: Hire the cheapest guy because you don't need his help at all. This role is a fucking free rider and you will see why later. I always source Übermacht Sentinel Classic because it goes fast and handles the best. It matters in setup mission.
  3. Hacker: Hire Paige because she gives you more time in the vault. It's worth the investment. If you have Avi unlocked you can try him to. He takes 1% more cut but gives you 5 seconds more time in the vault when exposed and 3 more seconds when undetected. It's up to you whether he is worth it. To unlock Avi as hacker, you need to destroy all 50 signal jammers around the map in free mode. Youtube video guide is here.
  4. Patrol routes: It makes more enemies visible on mini map. I always do it but if you feel comfortable to skip it, I respect that.
  5. Duggan shipments: MUST DO! Because you are supposed to get head shot and without Duggan shipments gone, guards will wear bullet proof helmet. You want to have some kind of flying vehicle because targets are all over the map.
  6. Power drills: You wanna get it if you think there is enough time to hit deposit boxes AFTER grabbing all the main stuff.
  7. Security pass: ALWAYS GET LEVEL 2 SECURITY PASS! This saves you a ton of time from hacking key pads. You can cycle through this option to a picture with a valet and a dealer.
  8. Acquire masks: A complete waste of time.
  9. EMP device and infiltrate suits: The former cuts power out and the latter gives you nigh vision in dark as well as the ability to rappel down the elevator well when entering casino if you choose some doors near helipad as entrance. If you want to sneaky in or out more easily, go ahead and do both. I think it's not worth it. Gun is your best friend.
Planning Board
I usually chose staff lobby or waste disposal as entrance. But you must choose staff lobby as exit and select high level buyer. Staff lobby door is close to both sewer and nearby police station, and high level buyer gives you most pay. And DO NOT ever buy decoy or clean vehicle. They are total waste of money.
Finale
The general rule is DO NOT kill guards if they are not in your way, or patrolling to a dead body. Also watch out for cameras. You can only shoot down 1 camera. So just stun them. It can be difficult if teammates are not on mic cuz you might need to take down some guards in pairs. What I usually do is typing "Can someone please aim with me? You aim at right guy and I aim at left guy, then I fire right after you." in chat box. I found it works well as long as teammates read English. Probably many of you already knew this but you can hit daily vault twice both on your way in and out. The gate control is in security room. Another important note is that the guards will be able to see you though glass on doors, but they will not be able to see you through bullet proof glass around security room. As far as after getting into the vault, just make sure get your ass outta there before times counts down to 0. And also, elevator is for suicide only. TAKE THE STAIRS.
Then it's much easier. At this time you have not alerted anyone yet so turn to your right after getting out of casino. Check out the map below where I drew a route to a safe spot to jack a ride from NPC. You just need to make sure to knock out the first NOOSE on the left side of van, and knock out the second one patrolling the Lost club house. Don't shoot because that will alert them. After jacking a ride now you have 2 option. First is to go down the sewer where I marked with black circle, or steal a chopper on the helipad of nearby police station where I marked with red H. You can practice both in free mode in terms of where to go in the sewer and how to get to the helipad, but please bear in mind that sometimes the helicopter doesn't spawn. And ALWAYS turn left onto the highway from sewer exit because turning right will take you near to casino and that will get heat back on you.
Escape Route
  • Big Con
From easy to hard: Gruppe Sechs, Bug Star, LS Water & Power, Young Ancestor.
Prep Board
  1. Gunner: Hire the cheapest guy because you can't fire a bullet in casino. That will attract attention no matter where you are. The only way to kill anyone inside is knocking him out.
  2. Driver: Hire the cheapest guy, period.
  3. Hacker: Hire Paige or Avi.
  4. Entry disguise: Gruppe Sechs gives you a clean run without alerting anyone until you get back to stair well. But I personally find other disguise more exciting. You just need to watch some Youtube videos before try them out. Young Ancestor takes longest time and most challenging imo.
  5. Exit disguise: JUST DO IT. Without it, you will be hunted right after getting out of casino. Go get NOOSE or firefighter outfits. Firefighter mission is easier because you can call Lester to clear wanted level.
  6. Patrol routes: I would say this is not necessary if you are playing Gruppe Sechs, but highly recommended if you are using other entry disguise because you are dealing with more enemies.
  7. Duggan shipments: Not necessary at all! Since no shots will be fired, their protective gear doesn't do any use against knocking out.
  8. Power drills: Same as other approaches.
  9. Security passes: LEVEL 2!
  10. Masks: Nobody cares.
Planning Board
This is the same as silent and sneaky approach.
Finale
There is nothing complicated about big con especially Gruppe Sechs. Just check your map for guards that are hostile. Guards and cameras marked in red circles are hostile while white color indicates "friendly". After making up to the ground level, you will want to circle to the back area and knock 1 guy out. Then make your way to laundry room and change your outfit. After that you can walk outta there like a boss.
Once you are out of casino, it's the same deal as silent & sneaky.
  • Aggressive
Unarguably the only approach to play with randoms lmao. But you do get less time in vault and will lose take from getting shot at.
Prep Board
  1. Gunner: This can be flexible depending on your shooting skill. The cheapest guy already have automatic weapon so that's good enough for me. Go for better gunners if you enjoy shootout.
  2. Driver: Do I need to say that again?
  3. Hacker: Yeah one of those two.
  4. Patrol routes: Nobody cares because it will be loud.
  5. Duggan shipments: Let me say this, if you don't do it, it will take a full clip of mags with headshot to take down 1 guard. GET IT DONE!
  6. Power drills: There is less time in vault so I usually skip this unless it's a crew of 4.
  7. Security passes: If you don't get a level 2 pass then you are out of your mind.
  8. Acquire masks: Literally no one cares.
  9. Reinforced armor: It works like heavy heist suits in OG heists. It gives you more health but makes you run slower. If you have Duggan shipments wiped out then this is totally unnecessary. If there are rookie in your team then you might wanna get it.
  10. Boring machine: This is a super effective prep mission as it allows you to enter vault level through sewer directly. But you have to have this particular access point scouted first.
Planning Board
To get in and out faster, you would still want to choose staff lobby. But entering through main entrance is more dramatic and funny. And for the last time I have to say, DON'T WASTE MONEY ON DECOY OR CLEAN VEHICLE!.
Finale
There is really no need to explain anything here. But some people do take a different route after getting out of casino, which is around the inside of race track. You can still stick the the route I provided earlier but you might encounter 2 or 3 more cops on your way to jacking an NPC ride.
Ok guys, go watch some Youtube videos and read some other guides if you have not done this before. I really wish you have fun out there and not waste other players' time by reading my beginner friendly guide. Casino heist is definitely worth playing because R* created this based on all the lessons learned from previous guides. It will be likely to be the template of next generation of GTA Online, which is just 20 years away!
